SpeakLocale ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our desktop application and related services.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and encrypted password. This information is stored securely in our authentication system (Supabase).

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and your Stripe customer ID for subscription management.

Audio Data

Local Processing (Pro/Lifetime): When using local Whisper processing, your audio is processed entirely on your device. No audio data is transmitted to our servers.

Cloud Processing (Pro Cloud): When using our cloud transcription service, audio is transmitted securely to our servers for processing. Audio data is processed in real-time and is not stored after transcription is complete.

BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys): When using third-party APIs (OpenAI, Groq, DeepL), your audio/text is sent directly to those services. Please refer to their respective privacy policies.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage metrics such as word count for tier enforcement, feature usage statistics, and error logs. This data helps us improve the application and provide support.

How We Use Your Information

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/SSL. Account passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting
• Stripe: Payment processing
• Vercel: Website hosting
• GitHub: Software distribution and updates

When you use BYOK features, you may also interact with OpenAI, Groq, or DeepL services under their respective terms and privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

SpeakLocale is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
